THE BRAND

THE PRODUCT
HIDESIGN products are all handcrafted in a single open-plan factory in Pondicherry, India. The workers are skilled artisans - manual workers crafting according to traditional methods using traditional tools and materials. The leather is full grain cowhide, tanned by traditional methods that have all but vanished from the modern leather industry. The leather is soaked for 40 days in extracts of forest barks and seeds and once the extracts are fully absorbed vegetable oils are applied. This creates a soft and supple leather with a beautifully distinct sheen. The tanned hides are pattern cut and matched by hand. Each piece is sewn together on individual sewing machines, again by hand. Solid brass fitting and fixtures are attached. These are individually sand cast and hand polished in the brass refinery within the factory grounds. HIDESIGN sees great value in natural beauty. Leathers are never layered with pigment and paint or embossed to hide leather defects. The natural beauty of the materials is allowed to shine through. There is no mass manufacture at Hidesign, and the great traditional skills of the craftsmen are nurtured and encouraged. HIDESIGN has been hand-crafting stunning leather bags and accessories for over 30 years. Typically, one Hidesign bag takes 11 hours to create. The over-all process is what gives Hidesign products their distinct character and charm. Each piece is unique work of art. CARE INSTRUCTIONS & WARRANTY
Each HIDESIGN briefcase and overnight bag is sold with a complimentary bottle of leather care cream. This cream can be applied regularly with a soft cloth to maintain softness and sheen. As with all leather products we recommend avoiding liquids as water or other liquids may stain. All HIDESIGN products are guaranteed for 12months from the date of purchase, excluding general wear and tear. Your HIDESIGN product will naturally soften over time enhancing its character, texture and suppleness.
