With birds chirping all around, pretty flowers and trees popping up everywhere and the big, bright sun shining down upon us, Spring is truly exquisite. And there is no better place than Melbourne to experience it in its full glory! So come with us on this springtime sojourn :)
Situated on the natural bay of Port Philip, Melbourne is definitely one of the best cities of Australia. There is something for everyone in this city, from rocking nightclubs to tranquil beaches, this city has it all! The city is pulsing at its heart at all times, whether it be bright in the day or dark in the night, there is always something going on. Melbourne is truly an ideal place to go to for a weekend sojourn, and Springtime is the best time to explore the city and all its charm.
Places to go:
There are tonnes of things happening in Melbourne at Springtime, from the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week to the Melbourne Fringe Festival to Oktoberfest, this city is the hub of all creative and fun activity this time.
Dress up in your fanciest clothes and watch the various horse races going on. The most famous race of Australia and 'one that stops the nation', the Melbourne Cup Carnival is not to miss.
Fine wining and dining, amazingly dressed people and the adrenaline rush, are all things that you will see at the Carnival and lots more as well. Know more about the cup and the carnivalhere.
Do head to the various parks in the city and watch Spring bloom with your very own eyes. Pack a picnic and stroll around and just be. What a great thing to do isn't it!
Dining in Melbourne is truly a delight, with some of the finest restaurants having base in this city. Tastes are divided on either side of the Yarra River and both have their unique, distinctive style. Along the Yarra river towards the Southgate Complex, there are restaurants which offer some heart-breaking views of the city which you can enjoy while you eat. Packing for Spring in Melbourne:
Ladies, take out all the gorgeous chiffon or silk or cotton dresses that you own, the classy hats and fascinators and the high heels and pack them all in a cabin suitcase and head down to have the best time of your life.
Gentlemen, you also take out a medium sized suitcase or a duffel bag and pack the dressy shirts, smart trousers and formal shoes and you are good to go!
If you are planning on going for a picnic or a little walking around, pack some casuals and comfortable shoes to go with them. You might also need a small sized backpack or one of these day packs to carry your stuff around while you explore.
