Earlier we did a piece on our Top 6 Destination Picks for this Christmas and New Year Eve. And we feel that sometimes closer to home is better. It's sunny, it's warm and you can have a lot of fun in Australia. But what can we do to celebrate the end of 2013? Let's look together a bit closer to home and see what we can find here....
Of course, you can celebrate New Year’s Eve at The Opera Gala in Sydney and watch the amazing fireworks display.
But wait, there is more.
If you are a foodie go down South to Tasmania and eat your way through the Taste Festival in Tasmania. It starts on the 28th of December and ends on the 3rd of January. Imagine that: one week of food and wine and more food and more wine. And this year they celebrate their quarter century of tasty food, good wine and lovely NYE parties. You can check their site for more info and how to get to the venue.
And if music is your thing, you have to check out the Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland. It's one of Australia’s biggest cultural festivals. It starts on the 27th of December and ends on the 1st of January with a blast of a party for NYE. Here's a glimpse of last year.
So pack your backs and heat your winter up by exploring the beautiful Australian culture and cuisine.
